MANITOBA DRAFT HORSE FUTURITY
Each year, the Manitoba Percheron Belgian Club is pleased to present The Manitoba Pennwoods Draft Horse Futurity. The Futurity is a showcase of some of the best young horses in the province.
There are two divisions to the Futurity.
The first is a halter class for the yearlings. Typically this halter class will have 20-25 entries consisting of Belgians, Percherons, and Clydesdales. To be part of the futurity, the horses must be nominated by the breeders in their weanling year.
The second part of the Futurity is for two year olds. It is a combination class that consists of three parts. The horses are judged in a line class, a single driving class (rail) and a pattern class. Points are awarded for each class and a winner is declared in each division.
This year's Manitoba Pennwoods Draft Horse Futurity will take place August 20 & 21, 2005 at the Virden fair grounds as part of Virden's Wild West Daze. The event is sponsored by Penwoods, Manitoba Percheron Belgian Club, Manitoba Horse Breeders and Virden Indoor Rodeo and Wild West Daze. The Futurity schedule can be viewed to the left.
There's plenty of camping available, it promises to be an exciting weekend, so everyone is invited to partake.
