Provincial Belgian Show
August 6 & 7, 2004

The Provincial Belgian Show was held August 6 & 7, 2004 in conjunction with the Birtle Agricultural Society's Fair, in Birtle, Manitoba. The Manitoba Percheron Belgian Club was the main sponsor of this event along with the Birtle Ag Society. The weather, although unseasonally cool, was a welcome treat for exhibitors and horses alike, and Mother Nature managed to hold off the showers until after the show was over. The halter classes commenced at 9:00am on Friday morning with the open show to follow. Some hitch classes were held in the afternoon, with the rest being finished up on Saturday afternoon following the Super Team competition. The judge for both days was Nick Denbrok of Rocky Bar Ranch, Esterhazy, SK. The results are as follows:
Grand Champion Stallion - Gardiner's Sir Patrick owned by Creek Side Belgians, Tom and Darlene Lane and family of Birtle, bred by Gardiner's Belgians, Rob & Karen Gardiner of Virden.
Reserve Champion Stallion - was an entry of Fran-Way Belgians of Shoal Lake
Junior Champion Mare - Roselea Beckie, an entry of Grant and Kim Gee of Virden, owned by Morsky Construction (Wayne Morsky). Beckie went on to win Grand Champion Mare as well as Supreme Champion of the Show.
Reserve Junior Champion Mare - Gardiner's Styllin' Stella owned and bred by Gardiner's Belgians. Stella was also Reserve Grand Champion Mare.
Senior Champion Mare - went to Roselea Royal Rose, an entry of Roselea Belgians, Grant & Kim Gee of Virden, MB.
Reserve Senior Champion Mare - Fran-Way June II bred by Fran-Way Belgians, Fran and Wayne Myhill, Shoal Lake, and shown by Dan Myhill.
Grand Champion Gelding - Creek Side Levi owned & bred by Creek Side Belgians, Birtle, MB.
Reserve Champion Gelding - Don, an entry of Bar RB Belgians, Robert & Gerrie Berry and family, Birtle, MB.
The winner of the heavy draft class was a hitch of Creek Side Belgians, as was the winner of the light draft class. The light draft team went on to win Champion Belgian team on the grounds. There were no entries in the registered mare hitch class.
